The Classics
University Housing Services manages four residence halls, located on the southeast corner of the San José State University campus. Three of the halls are three-story brick buildings. The fourth hall, Joe West Hall, is a twelve-story high-rise.
HOOVER HALL, ROYCE HALL, & WASHBURN HALL
Affectionately known as "The Bricks", these three residence halls offer small living-learning environments for approximately 250 students. Each hall is divided into 6 wings of approximately 48 students each, a design which helps promote community among the residents. These buildings do not have elevators but are equipped with air conditioning.
University Housing Services highly recommends this small community experience to incoming first-year students in order to ease the transition to college and provide a supportive first-year experience. Rooms in the red bricks are Single, or Double Occupancy with one or two students assigned to each room.
